Your diver certification starts here! The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases: Knowledge Development (in a classroom) to understand the basic principles of scuba diving, Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills, and Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore.

Appropriate for

  • Participants must be physically fit and able to swim.
  • Participants do not have a health condition such as heart attack etc.

Pre-study Session

0900         During the study session you will watch 3 sections from the PADI Open Water Diver Course 

                 DVD. You will then complete 3 chapter Knowledge Review, answers correctly 3 quizzes plus
                 36 question from the final exam. All this should take around 4 hours. The remaining study
                 (2 more chapters) will be completed in your own time but before the morning of day 2. The
                 remaining questions on the final exam and the fourth quiz will take place on the lunch time
                 of day 2.


Day 1

0845         Meet diver crew at the Red Public Telephone Booths at the entrance to Jesselton Point Jetty
                 for a 0850 boat departures to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park.

0930
         Receive a full safety briefing provided by your PADI Instructor for your morning diving
                 activities. You will then complete 200m swim test and 10 minutes float.

1000
         You’ll be helped into your dive gear. You are now ready to start your morning scuba diving
                 training session! During the morning training session you will complete confined skill
                 session 1.

1200
         Back on boat and chance to shower. You’ll be transferred to Padang Point for a tasty lunch.

1330
         Back on to dive boat. Your PADI Instructor will provide a dive briefing for your first open
                 water course dive. Put your dive gear on and go for dive from the boat and enjoy diving a
                 shallow coral reef guided by your PADI Instructor. The dive can last anywhere from 30-50
                 minutes.

1500
         Back on boat after finishing your open water dive course dive. You’ll be then transferred
                 back to Jesselton Point Jetty.


Day 2

0845         Meet diver crew at the Red Public Telephone Booths at the entrance to Jesselton Point Jetty
                 for a 0850 boat departures to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park.

0930
         You will complete Confined Water Training Sessions 2, 3, 4 and 5.

1200
         Back on boat and chance to shower. You’ll be transferred to Padang Point for a tasty lunch.

1330 
       PADI Open Water Dive 2.

1530
         Back on boat after finishing your open water dive course dive. You’ll be then transferred
                 back to Jesselton Point Jetty.


Day 3

0800         Pickup from hotel.

0845
         Meet diver crew at the Red Public Telephone Booths at the entrance to Jesselton Point Jetty
                 for a 0850 boat departures to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park.

0930
         You will complete PADI Open Water Dive 3.

1200
         Back on boat and chance to shower. You’ll be transferred to Padang Point for a tasty lunch.

1330
         PADI Open Water Dive 4 – your final qualifying dive.

1600
         Back on boat after finishing your open water dive course dive. You’ll be then transferred
                 back to Jesselton Point Jetty.

Important Notes

  • Rate Per Person is based on join-in basis of shared guide and transportation.
  • All rates displayed are quoted in Ringgit Malaysia (MYR).
  • A minimum of 2 adults per booking is required.
  • Due to traffic conditions, departure time varies from a different hotel. Should there be any delay, please call the telephone number stated on the e-ticket before making alternative arrangements.
  • Sabah Parks Diving Permit of MYR 53.00 and MYR 20.00 per pax are chargeable for Non-Malaysians and Malaysians respectively.  Paid once per diving day trip, or once per diving course.
  • Liability Release Form MUST be understood and signed by all participants before the tour commences.


Child Policy

  • There is no child rate will be applied.
  • Children below 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.


Outskirts Hotels Pick-up & Drop Off Surcharges

  • Additional charges of MYR 30.00 per pax are chargeable for outskirt hotels pickups. Outskirt charges are applicable for hotels outside of Kota Kinabalu city area.


Private Tour Service

  • Private tour is available at a reasonable fee for private guide & transportations.


Terms & Conditions

  • For the safety of our clients, due to inclement weather or due to events beyond our control Golden Kestrel Tours Sdn. Bhd. may need to cancel a tour. We reserve the right to change to an alternative tour or cancel the tour at our absolute discretion. In such event, no resource or claims shall be made against us.
  • Golden Kestrel Tours Sdn. Bhd. reserves the right to alter routes, timetables, itineraries and accommodation reserved should beyond our control render if necessary.
  • Golden Kestrel Tours Sdn. Bhd. shall not be liable in consequence of war, strike, riots, and natural disasters or conditions beyond the control of our company.


Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellation 30 days or more prior to departure (to be processed within 14-28 working days).
  • 25% refund for cancellation within 30 days prior to departure (to be processed within 14-28 working days).
  • NO REFUND for cancellation within 15 days prior to departure.
  • Cancellation within 24 hours prior to departure will be considered as “last minute cancellation” or “absenteeism” will forfeit 100% of their payment.
